Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Cape Town 2013| Part 2

Following on from Part 1, here are two other designers I found inspiring  at the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Cape Town Spring/Summer 2013 shows:

Spilt Milk

I found Alma van den Berg, the designer behind Spilt Milk’s collection quite fun. A company of performers were presented from the ringmaster, the balloon seller, the juggler and the tightrope walker, who were all adorned in garments with my favourite monochromatic colours of red, black and white. Each piece was complemented by her hand-made props from balloon collars to crop jackets made from rope and more. To top it all, a few models  also wore wonderful and quirky hats created by The Little Hattery.

In contrast to Spilt Milk, the collection by Elzanne Louw, designer behind LO, was an assortment of lovely tailored and feminine pieces in soft, muted colours. I was reminded of the creamy hues of beach sand and the soft dusty tones of Spring blossoms. I especially loved the skirts (shown above) pared with tops tucked in them, and the floaty dresses (shown below) in lace and satin.
